Are weight gain shakes effective?

If you're trying to gain weight you know that you have to eat more calories than you burn each day. To accomplish this companies have made a powder that has upwards of 1000 calories per serving. Obviously this will make you gain weight. The problems are the price and ingredients. If you look at the nutrition label you can figure out that each serving costs around $2 and get even higher. You'll also notice that that most of the calories come from sugar. The problem with this is that while you're taking in a lot of calories, you aren't taking in any vitamins, minerals or fiber. For the price of these weight gainers, you're better off buying a cheaper 100% protein powder and filling your shakes with ice cream, bananas and milk. You'll still get the high caloric value but you'll also add essential nutrients that will help your body more effectively gain the right kind of weight. Want to try a good protein shake recipe?
