What should I do with all that Halloween candy?

So your kids go out trick-or-treating and collect hundreds if not thousands of pieces of candy and now you're wondering what to do with all of it. Should you let them eat it all, throw it out or give them a few pieces per day? The best option is for moderation. Everyone loves candy and why would you throw all that candy away? What sort of weight is your child at? If they're overweight, you might want to think twice about giving them too much if any candy. If they're normal or underweight, there's probably little or no harm in giving them a few pieces a day. Another factor you should think about is physical activity. If your child is involved in a lot of sports then candy isn't going to hurt them. An incentive you can give them is to say 'if you eat your fruits and veggies, you can have some candy too.' Kids are still growing and with that comes the need for more calories. You shouldn't eliminate candy completely from their diets but you can limit it to a healthier intake.
