1. Cardiovascular and Strength Training. Cardio and strength training are the first two exercises that come to mind when thinking of fitness. Cardio is a form of exercise that keeps your heart pumping fast for a long period of time, typically 30-60 minutes per session. Strength training targets your muscles with free weights, machines or your own body weight to make them bigger and stronger. You can do both of these in a gym, at your house or in a park.

2. Group Exercise Classes. If you like going to the gym but hate doing the same workout day after day, consider taking a group exercise class. Most gyms offer a very wide variety of classes ranging from yoga to weight lifting, dancing to pilates. These classes are a great way to meet new people and get the attention of the instructor to make sure you're doing the exercise properly.

3. Sports. If you want to get out of the gym once in awhile, consider taking up a sport. Most sports will get you in shape quickly. Tennis, basketball, soccer and football will all provide great cardio workouts while you meet new people. Most cities run leagues which play at a certain time each week. Call your city hall for more information.

4. Physical Work. Working out doesn't always have to be in the form of exercise. Labor intensive tasks such as washing your car, tennis balldoing housework or working in the garden can also count as exercise. As long as the work takes as long as you would devote to exercise, you can replace going to the gym or running with one of these chores. Mowing the lawn isn't very easy so don't think you'll be cheating yourself.

5. Fun. The most important factor to consider when trying to find the best way to exercise is to pick an activity that you enjoy doing. Actually enjoying your workout will help you exercise for a longer period of time and at a higher intensity. You don't always realize how hard you're working when you're having fun.
