Day 4 - Sleep

For day 4 of the 12 basic habits for Christmas, we will touch upon a subject near and dear to my heart: sleep. Sleep is one of my top 3 favourite activities, and for good reason. Research is basically unanimous in finding that sleeping enough improves just about every aspect of your life, and can even lengthen it1.

colly birdStudies show that the optimal amount of sleep appears to be roughly 7-9 hours a night. Unfortunately, most Americans do not achieve this. This can be due to all sorts of things such as errands, kids, Monday Night Football, etc… I'm not here to preach about sleeping and how everyone should get their 7-9 hours each night. However, if you are truly dedicated to improving your health, it would be silly to at least not take a look at your sleep patterns. Good night!
